Mr. Dan Borns
Daniel E. Borns is in his eighteenth year of teaching high school choir and his seventh year as the choral director at Greenwood Community High School.
At Greenwood, he works with five high school choir classes, two middle school choirs, and directs both the play and musical productions. Previously, he taught at North Decatur Jr.-Sr. High School, Fort Wayne Northrop High School, and served as a graduate assistant studying Performance Choral Conducting at Bowling Green State University. Mr. Borns is a graduate of IPFW (Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne) where he received his degree in Music Education. Performers under his direction have consistently received gold ratings at district and state solo/ensemble contest, as well as receiving high marks at both district and state level organizational contests. Mr. Borns has been part of choirs as either a director or singer that have performed with great success in clinics and festivals during tours across the United States, Canada, and Europe. Daniel is an active adjudicator and clinician in the state of Indiana, having served as a conductor at Circle the State with Song, judging several Indiana State School Music Association events, and working with choir groups as a guest clinician. During a Western European tour in the Summer of 2018, he served as the principal choir conductor for the Indiana Ambassadors of Music. Dan has been a member of ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) for the past 21 years, serving as vice president of his collegiate chapter for two years, as the Indiana District 8 representative for four years, and currently as the Indiana Women’s Choir Repertoire and Resources Chair. He has also been a member of NAfME (National Association for Music Education) during this time, also serving as treasurer while in college. Mr. Borns hopes to find a way for all students in the state to have a fulfilling music education no matter where they attend school.

Mrs. Erica Colter
Mrs. Erica Colter is in her 12th year of teaching and is very much enjoying her second year as a choir director at Greenwood Community High School.
Previously she taught at Center Grove Middle School North for 5 years and Whiteland Community High School for just over 5 years before taking 2 years to stay home with her two children, Charlotte and Owen. While teaching at Whiteland, choirs under her direction were awarded consistently high ratings at ISSMA and high standings at show choir events. Her vocal jazz choir was awarded State Honor Ensemble at ISSMA state 2 years in a row, and her concert choir made state concert finals for the first time in the school’s history placing 10th. Mrs. Colter is a graduate of Ball State University where she participated in Chamber Choir and the Ball State University Singers. She is also an active member of professional organizations such as ACDA (American Choral Directors Association) where she previously served as the District V Representative, NAfME (National Association for Music Education), and ISSMA where she previously served on the state Jazz/Show Choir Committee. In recent years, Mrs. Colter was invited to be on staff with the Butler Jazz Camp to lead the vocal jazz ensemble. Mrs. Colter strives to provide an opportunity for all students to participate in choir while finding enjoyment and achieving high levels of excellence.

Miss Caitlin Lincourt
Caitlin Lincourt is currently in her 12th year of teaching in the Greenwood School System. She is the middle school choir and general music teacher.
She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and well as the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). She also currently serves as an Area 5 Middle School Coordinator for Circle the State with Song (CSWS). She enjoys teaching voice and piano lessons as well. In her spare time she enjoys reading, baking, sewing, and doing community theatre.

Ms. Lisa Knartzer
Music Department Secretary
Ms. Lisa (Mom) Knartzer has been the music department secretary for Greenwood High School since 2012. She does a wide variety of tasks for both the choir and the band, as well as the theater department. She has always enjoyed the arts, being in the color guard, show choir, and several musicals at her alma mater, Beech Grove High School. Ms. Knartzer’s daughters, Ashley and Allison, were in the Greenwood band during the 2007-2011 years. That was when Ms. Knartzer began her time in the music department as a “Box Mom”, assisting the students with their uniforms. The following year, she became the band camp chairperson and head chaperone until she was hired as the music department secretary.
Ms. Knartzer loves getting to know the students while watching them accomplish so much, getting to know their parents, and being a part of these programs.

Mrs. Betsey Cox
Betsey Cox has always had a passion for music. She began taking piano lessons at an early age and began accompanying in high school. She continued pursuing music in college with a degree in Church Music. This is her 4th year of accompanying at Greenwood, and she loves the opportunity to daily collaborate with students to positively influence them to become better musicians. Betsey and her husband, Jon, have three girls: Eleanor, Genevieve and Alexandria who are learning to love music as much as she does.
Results & Accomplishments
Rhapsody has grown from a choir of less than 20 voices to a group of 75-80 voices over the past six years. This advanced ensemble has received multiple gold ratings with distinction at ISSMA Organizational Contests and finished 10th at state concert finals in 2018. The ensemble also is a participant at ISSMA Solo/Ensemble Contest each year, and has had great success with this event. They have several ensembles and soloists perform at state level solo/ensemble every year. Rhapsody was selected to sing as a guest high school choir along with the University of Indianapolis choirs in the fall of 2018, was a selected performance group for the IMEA Professional Development conference in January 2019, and is planning to participate in a choral festival at Garfield Park this fall.

has made the transition from a beginning female ensemble to an advanced treble choir. This ensemble qualified for state concert finals in 2018, and finished 6th in the single gender finals. Revery has ensembles and soloists qualify for state level solo/ensemble each year, and has received multiple gold ratings over the past few years.

Jade Vocal Jazz
Jade is currently in its sixth year at Greenwood as a choir. During this time, they have been vocal jazz state finalists every year since jazz state finals became an opportunity offered by ISSMA. The group has also performed with the rock band Foreigner and been finalists in the B105.7 Christmas Choir competition in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018.

Concert Choir became part of the curriculum during the 2015-2016 school year. Since that time the ensemble has earned a gold rating at contest each year of its existence.
