Greenwood Choirs

Chorale

Chorale is Greenwood’s non-auditioned treble choir.  This group is coming into the curriculum this school year after formerly being a mixed choir known as Concert Choir.  This group should perform throughout the school year as part of the choir schedule and will plan to attend ISSMA Organizational Contest in the spring.  Students in concert choir made this beginning ensemble rather advanced through their great efforts in class and in performance, and we should see similar growth in Chorale.

Groove

Groove is an auditioned intermediate to advanced vocal jazz choir comprised of students in grades 10-12.  This will be the first year for the ensemble, and we are looking to build on the tradition of jazz in the curriculum at Greenwood with this group.  Groove will be performing treble vocal jazz music this year, and plans to be involved in festivals, community performances, and ISSMA events.

Jade

Jade is an auditioned 24 voice advanced vocal jazz choir comprised of students in grades 10-12. The choir is in its 7th year of existence and has become one of the top vocal jazz choirs in the state.  Jade performs at many festivals, community performances, and competitions. Since ISSMA began Vocal Jazz State Finals in the spring of 2016, Jade has qualified as one of the top 8 vocal jazz choirs in the state each year.  Jade has earned caption awards at state vocal jazz finals for outstanding alto section (2018) and outstanding bass section (2018, 2019).

Rhapsody

Rhapsody is an auditioned advanced mixed choir comprised of students in grades 9-12.  They perform a wide variety of concert literature at a very high level of difficulty. In 2018, Rhapsody qualified for ISSMA Concert State Finals for the first time since 1989 and received 10th place. This ensemble consistently earns Gold ratings with distinction at ISSMA Organizational events.  Along with performing at ISSMA events and Greenwood High School Choir Concerts, Rhapsody also performs at outside festivals and competitions.  This year the group hopes to get the opportunity to perform at choir competitions during the spring semester.

Revery

Revery is an auditioned intermediate to advanced treble choir comprised of students in grades 9-12.  They perform a wide variety of concert literature at a high level of difficulty. In 2018, Revery qualified for ISSMA Concert State Finals for the first time in school history and earned the 6th place position. Along with performing at ISSMA events and Greenwood High School Choir Concerts, Revery will also be competing in concert choir competitions in the spring should they be available.

Woodmen Singers

Woodmen Singers is Greenwood’s non-auditioned tenor/bass choir.  This group is returning to the curriculum this school year after spending last year as an extra-curricular group known as Men’s Chorus.  This group should perform throughout the school year as part of the choir schedule and will plan to attend ISSMA Organizational Contest in the spring.  Woodmen Singers was successful as an ensemble during the ‘19-’20 school year, and we look forward to building on this success this year.
